What We Do
   

The mission of the Chicago Office of Counterintelligence is to:

Protect against espionage of other foreign intelligence threats, including: terrorism directed against its personnel, information, activities, facilities and technologies.

Provide briefings and debriefings for federal and contractor employees conducting foreign travel.

Identify high-risk personnel and programs that they may become targets of foreign or domestic intelligence gathering activities.

Conduct appropriate checks and other reviews required by DOE Orders and Directives.

Conduct preliminary inquiries and administrative investigations associated with counterintelligence concerns.

Liaison with local FBI and other U.S. Government Agencies.

Provide CI-Cyber support to deter, detect, investigate, and neutralize foreign terrorists, or industrial sponsored intelligence activities targeting DOE information assets.

Provide education and awareness training on a variety of CI topics.

Provide CI assistance, as appropriate, to the Chicago Office Manager, Program Director, and other senior federal and contractor officials.
