Cindy Baebler
Ms. Cynthia Baebler is the Manager of the Department of Energy's Ames Site Office where she is the senior on-site Department representative. As Site Office Manager, Cindy directs the day-to-day office activities. The Office negotiates and administers the contract for operation of the laboratory; and provides technical and administrative direction, enabling support, oversight, and evaluation. Additionally, the Office represents the Department with regulators and stakeholders; and serves as the Laboratory's advocate within the Department and with others.
Ms. Baebler began her federal career in 1987 with the Department of Defense, Naval Surface Warfare Center as a systems engineer and moved to the Department of Energy in 1991. She has held a variety of positions at DOE Headquarters and the Chicago field office involving defense programs, environmental management, project and program management, maintenance and landlord programs, engineering and construction, facility operations, and waste management. Immediately before taking the Ames Site Office assignment, she was the federal project controls manager for the Pit Disassembly and Conversion Facility design project, a $2.5 billion program funded by the National Nuclear Security Administration.
Cindy holds a Master's of Science in Engineering Management from George Washington University, and a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Mike Saar

Michael Saar serves as the Senior Facility Representative for the Ames Site Office with responsibilities for ensuring work at Ames Laboratory is performed within the facility’s safety envelope, identifying and evaluating safety and health issues and concerns, diagnosing root causes, assuring the adequacy of communications between Ames Laboratory, Ames Site Office, and Office of Science, identifying both short term compensatory measures and ultimate solutions, and following problem resolutions to satisfactory implementation.
Mike began his federal career in 1978 with the Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District as a mechanical design engineer. In 1984 he accepted the position of Fire Protection engineer with the Fort Worth District. In 1987 Mike joined DOE Chicago Operations as a fire protection and safety engineer, and in 1998, was hired as the Facility Representative for the Ames Site Office.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Thomas Harrison

Thomas Harrison serves as the Contracting Officer for Ames Site Office with responsibility for authorizing work, obligating funds, and maintaining contract terms and conditions of the multi-million dollar prime contract with Iowa State University for the operation of Ames Laboratory.
Thomas Harrison began his contracting career as a Department of the Army intern at Fort Richardson Army Base, Alaska. Upon completion of his internship at Fort Richardson, he accepted a position as a Cost/Price Analyst at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa. Harrison and his family enjoyed living in Mount Pleasant for nearly two and a half years before accepting a position with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Chicago Office, as a Contract Specialist.
At EPA Harrison awarded and administered EPA’s long-term remedial action contracts located in Region 5 that served Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin and 35 Tribes. He took a position at the Department of Energy (DOE) - Chicago Operations, Acquisition and Financial Assistance Office, and shortly after joining the DOE Acquisition Section, he became a member of the Management and Operating team for the Ames Site Office.
Thomas earned a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Alaska and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from North Central College.
Amber Roller

Amber Roller serves as the Secretary for the Ames Site Office with the responsibilities of document and correspondence preparation, file and record keeping, and maintenance of numerous automated systems.
Amber began her federal career serving in the U.S. Air Force from 2000-2006 as a Logistics Readiness Specialist. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Benedictine University.
